Intangible Asset Valuation

The need for intangible asset valuations has increased due to International Financial Reporting Standards, the spate of M&A activity and greater scrutiny by tax authorities of asset assignments and transfer pricing.

Brand Finance is an international leader in the valuation of intangible assets. During the last decade we have carried out valuations, totalling hundreds of billions of dollars, in many jurisdictions for accounting, tax and commercial purposes.

Brand Finance advises tax authorities on intangible asset valuation and transfer pricing. We have carried out financial reporting valuations for brand owners such as Groupe Danone and SABMiller.

The Brand Finance approach:

  • We value intangible assets as components of Enterprise Value, and carry our rigorous market and comparable analysis to support assumptions
  • We match the basis and methods for each valuation to its purpose and the reporting jurisdiction
  • Our robust valuation approach is enhanced by an integrated knowledge of marketing, licensing and brand transactions
  • We work closely with client’s auditors, tax advisers and lawyers

Valuations are required for:

Valuations also form the basis for risk and performance management.
